Research Partnerships & Collaborations

Clinical research

Research partnerships & collaborations

The Clinical Research Institute works with hospitals, universities, research institutes and clinical collaborators in Australia and internationally. These partnerships extend the research capability developed within our practice group and enable clinical questions arising from patient care to be investigated through multidisciplinary and translational research.

Major current partnerships

Three collaborations shaping our current work

St Vincent's Private Hospital Sydney

Our practice group has delivered allied health services at St Vincent’s Private Hospital Sydney since 2020. From 2021 this developed into a multidisciplinary Orthopaedic Clinical Research Program at the hospital, co-led by Professor Sean Mungovan and Associate Professor Nick Vertzyas.

The program spans recovery after hip and knee replacement, orthostatic intolerance and safe early mobilisation, gait and physical function, osteoarthritis phenotyping and human tissue research.

Garvan Institute of Medical Research

A collaboration in osteoarthritis research, combining carefully characterised arthroplasty cohorts and clinical phenotyping from the clinical program with human tissue biobanking and advanced immunology and immunogenomics at the Garvan Institute.

The University of Queensland — QAEHS / Minderoo Centre

An emerging program in microplastics, nanoplastics and plasticisers and human health, combining our clinical platform and patient cohorts with specialist exposure science and analytical chemistry.
